Cordes Ford is a member of the Firm’s litigation group. His practice focuses primarily on business and construction litigation. Most of his work is defense-oriented. He has defended product manufacturers, distributors and general contractors in numerous construction and manufacturing defect cases, filed in both state and federal courts in South Carolina. However, he also has experience prosecuting claims on behalf of clients, including indemnity claims for surety companies, mechanic’s lien claims for contractors, and performance claims for developers and owners. Other business matters litigated include commercial lease, contract, and property disputes, business break-ups, wage payment claims, and will contests. Mr.Ford has accumulated valuable experience in trying several cases to verdict, briefing and arguing many dispositive motions, and mediating numerous other matters in an effort to efficiently resolve cases before they reach court.

Representative Matters:
   •  Defense of a developer against claims challenging title to real property and alleging trespass
   •  Assisted a surety company in obtaining summary judgment in excess of $350,000 in the United States District Court, District of South Carolina
   •  Obtained partial summary judgment for a construction product manufacturer based on South Carolina’s Economic Loss Doctrine and has conducted extensive research in preparation of memoranda supporting defenses available under Article 2 of the Uniform Commercial Code
