James M. Wilson is a transactional lawyer who focuses his practice on real estate and business acquisitions, dispositions, finance, and development. He also regularly handles drafting and negotiating general commercial contracts, including license agreements and contracts for the sale of goods or services. Prior to returning to Charleston, Mr. Wilson practiced law in Washington D.C. at Vinson & Elkins L.L.P., where he focused on project finance and development and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Wilson has advised clients in zoning matters, the development and establishment of condominium and “dockominium” regimes, commercial leases, and residential subdivisions. His finance experience includes representing both lenders and borrowers in complex secured loans involving leasehold mortgages and securitized loans. Mr. Wilson currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Mortgage Lending Committee of the American Bar Association Section of Real Property Trust & Estate Law
